Jumping Journal: March 04, 2006

Day 50.  The finale.  A sad finale to say the least.  Sure it has been pure hell this winter getting ready for Junior Olympics and it has been a very tiring week, but it is sad to see all the kids head for home.  There are several of the kids that I would love to do some jumping with.  Their are quite a few good kids jumping, and I don't mean good jumpers, but good kids.  To any of them that read this, good luck in the future and thanks for coming to Lebanon.

I arrived at the hill around 7:30AM and started off by sorting through the bibs and getting them ready for their coaches.  Afterwards I tried hunting down radios to find out that someone already had beaten me to the punch.  I also hunted down one of the missing bibs.  I walked on up to the takeoff and tried to setup my mini-cam on the takeoff so I could video the kids as they were coming straight down the inrun at the camera.  I finally bailed on the idea when I realized I flat out didn't have enough time to get it set up the way that I wanted it.

I walked on up and took my place in the starters box.  The wind was already howling quiet nicely.  Granted last night was much windier than this morning but the winds were still blowing pretty nicely.  Several of the kids were commenting on how I was doing such a good job last night at predicting how far they would go and if they should start from a lower bar or not.  Admittedly, today I wasn't doing quite as nice of a job as last night.  My accuracy, even remotely close, fell to around 40%.

After the competition was over I grabbed lunch and then put on the jump suit and headed over for the a dozen jumps on the 25.  It may have been 13 or 14 jumps but I am only going to count 12 of them.  By jumps 3-4 I was throwing in a tele.  I don't have a big tele but it is there.  It seems like the only time I manage to put one in is durnig the month of March.

Each of the 12-12+ jumps went pretty good.  There were no really outstanding jumps.  I was mostly just trying to focus on putting in a tele more than anything else.
