Jumping Journal: June 07, 2007

Heckling, heckling, heckling.  If I need anything else I would ask for it, but don't you just love the people that like to heckle you about stuff you write in your blog.  I guess when people have nothing better to do with their time that they can come up with all kinds of crazy thoughts.

I arrived at the hill this afternoon and at first I thought I was the only one there.  A few seconds later I saw Cannonball raking through the sawdust, and a minute or so later Bill pull in.  We got to work building an intermediate start for one of the young kids that was ready to jump the 25 but Cannonball didn't want him going all the way from the top just yet.  We built a box that we could put a bar on part way down the inrun.

As we was finishing it up Bill and Cannonball started making a joke about my posting several weeks back that included a link to the article about Toxic Vocabulary.  At first I couldn't even figure out what they were talking about than it started to make sense.  They were adding a third mother/father into the story.  The third parent was suppose to be asking the kid "What do you see up there?"  You had to be there to really get how crazy these two guys are.

We changed clothes and head on up the jump.  The first couple of jumps weren't bad but they seemed short, only around 15 meters.  I was pretty much landing right on the trapdoor that the newbies use to get use jumping on plastic before going up the 25.

Jump three was much better...at least until I got beyond the transition.  I did jump late on the jump and everyone knew that I knew I had jumped late since I managed to yell outload "LATE" at the takeoff.  I did manage to jump somewhere around 16.5-17 meters,  As I was coming out of the transition and went to sit back on the tails I noticed I was off balance.  The off balance didn't correct itself and I ended up laying it over.

Jump four went smoother as well as the fifth and final jump of the session.  I was getting back down around th 17-17.5 meter mark that I had been jumping to consistently a couple of weeks ago.
