Jumping Journal: October 02,2006

Month 70 in a row.  Gee, I didn't figure it would happen until mid month after it rained most of the day on Sunday.  I woke up this morning to find an email from Cannonball wanting to know if anyone wanted to jump later on this afternoon.  I decided why not get October out of the way early, just in case.

I showed up at the hill around 5:15 and Cannonball was heading out the door for a quick run.  I waited around inside and did some stretching and started changing clothes as he got back.  We headed on up the jump and started some late day plastic jumping.

By the time we started jumping 5:45PM there wasn't much sun left above the horizon and by the time we finished I think the sun had probably set for the day.  I think today was the latest that I have ever jumped on plastic.  Normally we always jump at 3PM on Sunday afternoons or last year we was jumping on the weekdays around 4-4:30PM.  We never jumped really close to sunset.  I still think it would be interesting to see what it would be like to jump plastic under the lights.

The first two jumps weren't too bad.  I decided on the second jump to not put any soap on the bottom of the skis.  I hadn't did that for quite a while but I decided I want to see how much of a difference it would make.  I didn't notice much difference.  On the third and fourth jump I kept the soap off as well.

The third and fourth jumps were the two most solid jumps I've had all summer long.  The fourth one had to be in the top 5 of all the jumps I've ever had.  I did everything pretty much the way I knew to do it.  Normally right before I land I pull out of the jump but on the third and fourth jumps I didn't.  I really noticed on the last jump that I held a nice flight position all the way until my feet were on the ground.

Hopefully now I can keep up this performance into the winter months and make this winter a true winner.
